Canelo Alvarez does not believe that Daniel Jacobs is going to give him a fight as tough as Gennady Golovkin, but believes that by the style of his next opponent, the fight could be more difficult.
The contest takes place on May 4, in a WBC, WBA, IBF middleweight world title unification at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The current odds place Canelo as the favorite over the New Yorker to the tune of 2.5 to 1.
Canelo fought Golovkin to a controversial draw in 2017, and then won a close twelve round decision over him in 2018.
"There are tough fighters and there are difficult fighters. Jacobs has a bit of everything, he's difficult and tough. Golovkin is a very strong fighter, who is always coming forward and that is complicated in a fight, but they have different styles," Canelo explained.
"It's going to be a difficult, complicated fight, more because of the mentality that he has, he has a mentality where anything can come at him and that pleases me, that's how good fights are made, when there is a strong-minded fighter who can surpass any obstacle. I am happy that he is my opponent in May to give me a good fight - and that is the only thing I want in each of the fights I have.
"He is a very complete fighter, he knows how to handle the ring well, very well from either guard, a fast fighter, strong, tall, he is a very complete fighter, I do not know how he is going to fight me. What I do know is that we will prepare for anything, for any style that he comes with. We will prepare a hundred percent and be ready for that day. We know it will be a difficult night, but we are ready for that, at these levels you have to be ready for any style."
