Caleb Plant: record, next fight and profile →
Caleb Plant found Canelo Alvarez’s rationale for shoving him about as believable as his upcoming opponent’s explanation for why he tested positive for a banned performance-enhancing drug in 2018.
Enough was already said by the time Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez made his way to the podium. That was fine with the four-division and reigning WBA/WBC/WBO super middleweight titlist, who was brief in his final comments in the direction of IBF super middleweight titlist Caleb Plant.
Caleb Plant pointed out Canelo Alvarez’s performance-enhancing drug ordeal in person Tuesday afternoon. The unbeaten IBF super middleweight champion emphasized again during their press conference what he Tweeted about nearly two weeks earlier. When Showtime’s Brian Custer, the moderator of their press conference in Beverly Hills, California, asked Plant if he believes Alvarez is “a cheater,” Plant didn’t hesitate to respond.
The promotional tour for the undisputed super middleweight bout between Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant got off to a rowdy and rambunctious start when bantering evolved to an all-out brawl in Beverly Hills, Calif. on Tuesday.
Caleb Plant has always relished the underdog role, though never more so than ahead of the biggest fight of his pro career. It’s no surprise that Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is favored to prevail in their upcoming undisputed super middleweight championship clash which takes place November 6 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Guadalajara’s Alvarez (56-1-2, 38KOs)—who holds the WBC/WBA/WBO titles—is already a -1200 favorite to defend his belts and add Plant’s IBF title to his collection in their Showtime Pay-Per-View main event.

Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant couldn’t wait until November 6 to put their hands on one another. Plant walked away from the skirmish with a significant cut beneath his right eye, the consequence of Alvarez landing a punch while Plant wore sunglasses.

As the saying goes, it’s not always about if you win but how you win that matters inside the squared circle. IBF super middleweight titleholder Caleb Plant would probably agree with that dictum as it relates to his forthcoming full unification title bout against boxing kingpin Canelo Alvarez, who owns the WBC/WBO/WBA belts, on Nov. 6 in Las Vegas.
Four division world champion Mikey Garcia believes Caleb Plant is capable of pulling off a big upset when he faces Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in a full division unification. Plant and Canelo will collide on November 6, with the IBF, WBO, WBA, WBC super middleweight titles at stake.
