Caleb Plant: record, next fight and profile →
Mexican superstar and unified WBA/WBC/WBO Super Middleweight World Champion Canelo Alvarez will face undefeated IBF Super Middleweight World Champion Caleb “Sweethands” Plant in a historic showdown on Saturday, November 6, live on SHOWTIME PPV at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas in a Premier Boxing Champions event.
Showtime is back in the Canelo Alvarez business. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that Showtime will produce and distribute the telecast of Alvarez’s pay-per-view fight against Caleb Plant on November 6 from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. FOX Sports was long believed to be the network that would produce and distribute the event, but Showtime’s Stephen Espinoza negotiated with Al Haymon for over a month and made an enticing offer to handle Alvarez-Plant.
Former two-division titleholder Andre Ward recently expressed his bemusement regarding the idea that he has some sort of deep-seated feud with Canelo Alvarez. The subject has come to light once more particularly because IBF 168-pound titleholder Caleb Plant was recently seen getting pointers from Ward in the gym ahead of Plant’s scheduled full unification bout against WBA/WBC/WBO 168-pound champion Alvarez Nov.6 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
It was revealed on Tuesday, that tickets will go on sale tomorrow at 10AM, for the upcoming super middleweight unification between unified WBA/WBC/WBO champion Canelo Alvarez and IBF champion Caleb Plant.
If Caleb Plant approaches his fight in the ring against Canelo Alvarez the same way he did at the negotiating table, he may end up surprising more than a few viewers. The Nashville-born IBF super middleweight titleholder will put his belt on the line against Alvarez, the WBC/WBO/WBA champion, in a full unification title fight on Nov. 6 in Las Vegas. Alvarez announced the fight on his social media in late August.
LAS VEGAS – Caleb Plant is beyond pleased that renewed negotiations led to a deal for him to challenge Canelo Alvarez on November 6. The undefeated IBF super middleweight champion is equally enthused that he has been afforded more than enough time to prepare properly for the biggest fight of his career. The more negotiations for their proposed September 18 showdown became problematic last month, the less time Plant would’ve had to train if they had agreed to fight that night.
Caleb Plant was presented with a unique pre-fight storyline this week ahead of his undisputed super middleweight bout with Canelo Alvarez on Nov. 6 when the Mexican fighter’s stablemate Oscar Valdez tested positive for the banned substance phentermine before his Sept. 10 fight with Robson Conceicao.
LAS VEGAS – Steadfast self-belief has carried Caleb Plant a long way. The 29-year-old Plant comes from a small town in a state not known for producing prominent prizefighters. Yet here he is, an unbeaten world champion with an opportunity to knock off a Mexican legend considered by most experts to be the best boxer, pound-for-pound, in the sport.
Caleb Plant is used to having others doubt his potential. It comes as no surprise to the unbeaten super middleweight titlist that he comes in as a heavy underdog for a dream fight with pound-for-pound king Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez ahead of their upcoming November 6 clash at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Plant will put his IBF title on the line and is confident of leaving the venue with Alvarez’s WBA/WBC/WBO belts by night’s end.
Mexican boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez is expecting Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez to become the undisputed super middleweight champion in November. Canelo will stake his WBC, WBA, WBO world titles against the undefeated IBF champion, Caleb Plant.
