The Nevada State Athletic Commission released the numbers for last month's back-to-back 'Premier Boxing Champions' events from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. In the June 20th headliner, Shawn Porter upset Adrien Broner with a twelve round unanimous decision win. The co-feature had welterweight standout Errol Spence Jr. demolish Phil Lo Greco. The doubleheader was televised by NBC.

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya is very happy for Shawn Porter (26-1-1, 16KOs), who this past Saturday night won a twelve round unanimous decision over Adrien Broner at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. De La Hoya's company promoted Porter (and Broner too) for several years. Porter left their banner as part of the severed business relationship between Golden Boy and manager/adviser Al Haymon. Because of Broner's controversial antics, De La Hoya was never exactly a big fan of the boxer.

No matter what Adrien Broner claims on social media platforms such as Twitter, there is no imminent plans of a rematch between him and Shawn Porter, who beat him last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. "Adrien is playing the same game that his 'big brother' (Floyd Mayweather) likes to play," said Kenny Porter, the father and manager of 'Showtime', who is preparing for his next fight in September.

Former welterweight champion Shawn Porter (26-1-1, 16KOs) is back at the top his division, after winning a twelve round unanimous decision over Adrien Broner on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Porter praised Broner as being a good, tough fighter. He also rates veteran and former champion Julio Diaz as being a tougher fighter. He faced Diaz two times. The first time Porter fought him to a ten round draw in 2012, and then set the record straight with a wide ten round decision in 2013.

Ryan Burton catches up with "Showtime" Shawn Porter (26-1-1, 16 KOs), who outworked and out-landed Adrien "The Problem" Broner (30-2, 22 KOs) on his way to a unanimous decision victory on Premier Boxing Champions on NBC in front of 8,138 fans at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday night.

In a fight dubbed "The Battle for Ohio", the Akron-born Porter threw 590 punches compared to the 309 thrown by the Cincinnati-native Broner. Things got awfully contentious in the days leading up to last week's clash between Shawn Porter and Adrien Broner, as the trash talk that was initiated by Broner got very personal and involved Porter's father and trainer, Kenny. Broner stated that it was the elder Porter who collected his son's fight checks and paid him. He added some other derogatory remarks regarding their relationship. After the end of the 12th round on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas - where Porter did more than enough to earn a unanimous decision, Broner went over to the Porter's and tried to playfully make amends.

The odds were stacked against him. Shawn Porter agreed to come in lower on the scale (144 lbs.) than he’d been since 2011. He made the weight the right way. He prepared the right way. He won going away. Saturday night’s biggest fight, pitting former Welterweight titlists Porter and Adrien Broner, wasn’t a good fight. It was however an interesting fight from start to finish with a strong dramatic flair at the finish. Broner became the first man to drop Porter in the final round but he couldn’t finish and didn’t seem all that bothered. No one should have been surprised. The way he fought Saturday, Broner couldn’t be bothered with the rigors of being a professional in the weeks leading to his second defeat. Shawn Porter has rebounded from a loss to Kell Brook and there are a number of fights to look forward too.

Shawn Porter pressed the action all night, outlanded Broner while throwing nearly 300 more punches for the fight. Adrien Broner averaged 26 punches thrown per round and probably averaged that many clinches per round as well.
