The date of October 1st is drawing closer. The World Boxing Council scheduled a purse mandatory bid for next month, for the fight involving WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21KOs) and mandatory challenger Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32KOs). The two sides have yet to reach an agreement. Wilder is a feared puncher, but untested against a higher caliber of opponent and he's never gone beyond the fourth round. Stiverne can also punch and has fast hands.

Former two-division world champion David Haye will be a very interested observer when Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21KOs) defends his WBC heavyweight crown for the first time against mandatory challenger Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32KOs). Negotiations for the fight are ongoing, with a purse bid scheduled for October 1st. Haye, inactive since 2012, is very close to announcing his ring return. He wants to reclaim the heavyweight title. According to the World Boxing Council (WBC), things are appearing likely that a purse bid will go forward on September 12th in Mexico City for the ordered fight between WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne and mandatory challenger Deontay Wilder. The two sides have been unable to reach an agreement for several weeks. Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) captured the vacant title by stopping Chris Arreola earlier this year. Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) became the mandatory by knockout out Malik Scott in the first round of a March eliminator. Wilder came back last month and stopped Jason Gavern in four rounds.

While unbeaten contender Deontay Wilder awaits an eventual showdown against WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne, another unbeaten heavyweight also awaits his turn at fighting for championship gold. Because he won an elimination bout against Mike Perez on July 26, Bryant Jennings will fight the winner between Stiverne and Wilder. That does not mean Jennings (19-0, 10 KOs) will sit idly by. Bryant Jennings’ fight with Mike Perez this past Saturday was a heavyweight elimination bout in which the winner would get to challenge the victor of the upcoming bout between World Boxing Council titleholder Bermane Stiverne and undefeated challenger Deontay Wilder. Jennings topped Perez by split decision. His promoter, Gary Shaw, says he’s been told by the WBC’s Mauricio Sulaiman that open negotiations for Stiverne-Wilder will begin in August, “and that fight will have to take place by November/December.”
