After Devon Alexander knocked out Juan Urango to unify the IBF/WBC junior welterweights titles at the Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino in CT, former two division champion Zab Judah entered the ring to crash the celebration party. While HBO's Max Kellerman was conducting an interview with Alexander, Judah cut in with some comments.
"This the hardest person [Urango] at 140 and I can beat anybody. I said if I can beat him, I can beat anybody...Zab, Timothy Bradley. Whoever can come get it," Alexander said.
Judah then came in the frame, attempting to duplicate Shane Mosley's in-ring display after Floyd Mayweather Jr. decisioned Juan Manuel Marquez last September.
"I just want to congratulate Devon Alexander on his win tonight. He looked good tonight but we know who holds the title in the Lou," Judah said.
Judah's remark was a verbal jab to point at his knockout win over Cory Spinks from a few years ago in St. Louis.
Alexander shot back and said Judah was the past, and the future is now here. If Judah was trying to secure a shot at Alexander by creating some drama, it didn't work.
"Zab is past tense, I'm present tense. I'm the future and it's going to stay that way for ten years straight," Alexander said.
