After almost three decades in the ring, Luis Ramon Campas will finally hang up the gloves for good.

The super middleweight bout will be scheduled for 10 rounds.

While Campas is unbeaten in his last seven bouts, he is nowhere near the fighter who fought the likes of Felix Trinidad, Raul Marquez, Fernando Vargas, and Oscar De La Hoya.

The 44-year-old Campas, who made his pro debut on July 11, 1987, almost a month before his 16th birthday, resides in Navajoa, Sonora, Mexico.

"I would've liked for him to retire earlier, but he (Campas) finally realizes that this is the right time," Joe Diaz told Boxingscene.com over the phone on Monday. Diaz is Campas' trainer/ manager.

"He'll finally be able to spend time with his family."

Campas won his first 56 bouts in a row before fighting for his first world title belt in September of 1994 against Felix Trinidad. Campas was able to drop Trinidad in the second round, before being brutally stopped two rounds later.

Campas would challenge for another world title belt two years later, but was stopped by Jose Luis Lopez after the end of the fifth round.

Over a year later, Campas finally won a world title belt, stopping Raul Marquez in the eighth round. He would make three successful defenses before losing the title to Fernando Vargas in December of 1998.

Campas became a staple of the 'Solo Boxeo' telecasts that aired midday on Sunday's in the early 2000's.

Boxrec lists Campas' record as 105-17-3, 81 KOs, but Diaz says there are six victories that have been omitted from his record.

Bonsante (34-12-3, 18 KOs), who is a year older than Campas, has won his last two bouts after losing three of his previous four bouts.

Bonsante fought on the first season of 'The Contender' reality season and also has losses to Peter Manfredo, John Duddy, and Adonis Stevenson.
