Heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte believes his former rival, Derek Chisora, is more than capable of shocking Oleksandr Usyk.

Promoter Eddie Hearn, who works with both boxers, is looking to match Chisora and Usyk on March 28th.

Usyk saw action once in 2019, with a tougher than expected win over Chazz Witherspoon.

Whyte has been in the ring with Chisora, twice. Whyte barely came away with a decision win in the first bout, and he was behind on points when knocking out Chisora in the twelfth and final round in the rematch. Both fights were absolute wars.

Chisora has scored two vicious knockouts in his last two fights, against Artur Szpilka and David Price.

"He's (Usyk) thinking he can out-manoeuvre Derek, but if Derek is in shape, which I'm sure he will be, he'll have a nasty surprise and he'll have a hard night of work, if he wins," Whyte told Sky Sports.

"I'll tell him straight, don't underestimate Derek. If he's in shape and he's motivated, he will give you work. Serious work as well. 100 percent [Chisora is capable of beating Usyk], and I'm backing him to win as well, because Usyk struggled with Chazz Witherspoon. Okay he out-boxed him and out-manoeuvred him, but he hit him with a million punches before he stopped him and Chazz Witherspoon was basically retired before that fight."

Hearn is close to finalizing numerous fights, with Chisora against Usyk, and then Whyte against former world champion Alexander Povetkin, and then Anthony Joshua defending his unified crown against mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev.

"We're hoping to make Chisora against Usyk for March 28," Hearn told Sky Sports. "Dillian Whyte against probably Alexander Povetkin at the end of April, early May, and then Joshua against Pulev end of May, early June.

"What a three months that would be for British boxing and bringing some of the biggest heavyweight fights and the biggest names to Britain."
