Lanxess-Arena in Cologne, Germany - WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (42-2, 39KOs) destroyed previously undefeated 2004 Olympic gold medal winner Odlanier Solis (17-1, 12KOs) in one round. Over 19,000 fans packed the arena.
Solis started off with some good movement and he was blocking Klitschko's jab well. Solis was coming in with some very quick combinations and then jumping out before Klitschko could counter. The right hand was working well for Solis. As Solis walked in, he was caught with a right hand that put him down hard. Solis took the shot on the top of the head and he just crumbled on his back. He tried hard to make it to his feet and actually beat the count. He had a lot of trouble standing. The ref waved it off to prevent further damage.
After the fight was over, Klitschko was very angry. He felt Solis quit and could have continued. Several replays were shown and it was obvious that Solis was barely able to stand.

WBO #5 cruiserweight Nuri Seferi (30-6, 18 KOs) barely got past unusually determined Hungarian Jozsef Nagy (24-10, 15 KOs) with a close unanimous decision over eight hard-fought and hardly entertaining rounds. Both fighters wrestled more than boxed and Nagy was even more aggressive than the world-ranked WBO Europe champion but at the end of the fight the gutsy Hungarian found himself on a wrong side of judges' decision.
