At Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California, junior welterweight Victor Ortiz (26-2, 21KOs) stopped Hector Alatorre (16-9, 5KOs) in the tenth round.

After boxing and picking his spots for the first six rounds, Ortiz began to unload with a lot of punches in the seventh. Ortiz worked him over for the next few rounds and then really pounded him with hard combinations in the tenth and final round to send him down. Alatorre got to his feet with unsteady legs and the fight was stopped.

Featherweight Charles Huerta (13-1, 7KOs) won a six round majority decision over Guadalupe De Leon (8-10, 4KOs). The scores were 59-55, 58-56 and 57-57. Huerta was in control for most of the fight. De Leon gave him a few awkward moments but not many. Not sure how one judge had it a draw.

Philadelphian Karl Dargan made easy work of Mexican journeyman Jose Alfredo Lugo (10-13-1, 6KOs) as he improved his undefeated record to 7-0, 3KOs. It was obvious from the opening bell that Dargan, who is trained by Nazim Richardson, had too much hand speed for Lugo to handle. Dargan started with pumping his jab early and later began to punish Lugo with some hard combinations that drew cheers from the crowd. Lugo’s chin was the only thing that kept him in the fight as Dargan continued to land flush straight rights and left hooks until the referee was forced to stop the fight after the 4th round.

In the opening fight of the night, Oxnard’s Ricky Lopez battled against the rough and rugged Hugo Ramos (2-5-2, 1KO). Lopez clearly landed the harder and cleaner shots throughout the contest but was tested himself as Ramos landed some hard shot to begin the 4th and final round. Lopez weathered the storm and mounted his own attack ending the fight with a hard 3 punch combination. The judges’ verdict was a 39-37 unanimous decision for Lopez as he improved to 7-0, 2KOs.
