Junior welterweight contender Victor Ortiz does not agree with opinion of last Saturday's bout with Mike Arnaoutis being stopped too quickly. Ortiz stunned Arnaoutis in the second round with a counter and then unloaded with punches as the Greek fighter was pinned against the ropes. Arnaoutis was not punching back and briefly dropped his hands, which immediately caused the ref to jump in and stop the fight.

Ortiz had trained for a twelve round fight and during the first he was under the impression that Arnaoutis would last the distance.

"According to some people the fight was one-side. I kind of thought it was too. I did what I studied and what my coaches told me to do. The thing about me, I take it round by round. I never try to overdo it. I don’t pressure myself. I take my time and figure it out. And if something happens and I get a knockout, then I get a knockout. If I don't, then I go the full twelve. I was thinking twelve in my mind," Ortiz told Ernest Gabion of BoxingScene.com.

Arnaoutis approached Ortiz after the fight was over and complained of quick stoppage by the ref. Ortiz told him that he disagreed. He tells BoxingScene that Arnaoutis' eyes were completely rolled back. Ortiz did want the fight to go a bit longer in order to put Arnaoutis down on the mat.

“I was a little bit surprised with what he told me - 'hey, I didn't even have a chance to fight and they shouldn't have stopped it.' I was like  - 'well, that's what you think. I saw your eyes and I saw the way you looked,' Ortiz said.

"He didn't punch back and if you were in the ring and saw what I saw, his eyes were literally rolled back. I thought they stopped it a little too soon because I wanted to see a better droppage but that just me."
