Looks like unbeaten super featherweight Francisco Vargas will return to the ring on a December 13th card, a source told Boxingscene.com on Thursday.
The source wanted to remain anonymous.
When contacted by Boxingscene.com on Thursday, manager Joel De La Hoya confirmed Vargas will be fighting Jerry Belmontes in a scheduled 10 round bout.
The card will likely land at the Fantasy Spring Resort Casino in Indio, CA. Fox Sports 1 will lilkely televise.
“We had talks about possibly fighting Abner Cotto, but we did not hear back from his people,” said De La Hoya over the phone. “So we settled on Belmontes.”
De La Hoya also said unbeaten featherweight Julian Ramirez (9-0, 6 KOs) and super bantamweight Diego De La Hoya (1-0, 1 KO) will fight on the card in separate bouts.
The December 13th card could also feature the return of Josesito Lopez. It has been rumored Lopez will fight on that date with Aron Martinez still the likely opponent.
