Cameron Dunkin, manager of junior middleweight contender Willie Nelson (23-1-1), has advised BoxingScene.com that a fight between Nelson and former title challenger Vanes Martirosyan (34-1) is being discussed for October 4th.
If an agreement is reached the fight will be broadcast on Showtime and take place at the Foxwoods Resort in Connecticut. As previously reported, newly crowned IBF super featherweight champion Rances Barthelemy (20-0) will face Fernando David Saucedo (52-5-3) in the main event.
Nelson just fought on August 8th when he survived a few rocky moments to defeat Luis Grajeda via unanimous decision on ESPN Friday Night Fights. Martirosyan last fought in March when he deafeated Mario Lozano via unanimous decision in a bout also televised on ESPN.
