Sources close to the negotiations have advised BoxingScene.com that Manuel Charr (21-0, 11KOs) is indeed a possible option for Vitali Klitschko's next defense of the WBC heavyweight title. Vitali's next fight is going to take place on September 1 or September 8 in Germany.

While Charr is certainly a possibility, he is not the "frontrunner" by any means. There are several possibilities being explored. In several recent interviews, Charr discussed his desire to face one of the Klitschko brothers, but he may not be ready for the fall. In fact, one source indicates that Charr's management was recently approached to face Vitali and they never replied with an answer, which indicates they are not interested at this time or possibly taking another fight in the fall.

Polish giant Mariusz Wach (27-0, 15KOs) is another possibility, as well as Canadian boxer Bermane Stiverne (22-1-1, 20KOs), who won a WBC eliminator last June with a tenth round TKO of Ray Austin.
