Juan Carlos Camacho Jnr’s loss is Tobias Reyes’ gain.
Camacho had been ranked the WBO’s No. 1 flyweight going into his September 11 fight with titleholder Anthony Olascuaga, only to suffer a second-round technical knockout defeat.
That means Reyes, who had been No. 2 at 112lbs, has moved up into the No. 1 spot in the WBO’s most recent ratings update, which was released on September 25 and reflects results through September 15.
Reyes, 17-1-1 (16 KOs), is a 27-year-old from Argentina who is also rated third by the IBF and 13th by the WBC. He lost a majority decision to Felix Alvarado last December in an IBF elimination bout; the fight between Alvarado and that organization’s titleholder, Masamichi Yabuki, has been ordered to take place no later than December 8.
Reyes, meanwhile, returned in May with a third-round TKO victory against the 13-4 Jeanfran Medina. According to BoxRec, Reyes is scheduled to fight on October 18 against an opponent still to be determined.
Coming after Reyes in the WBO’s ratings are Yoali Mejia Mosqueda, Seigo Yuri Akui, Taku Kuwahara, Tomonori Nagao, Sergio Mendoza Cordova, Alvarado, Mchanja Yohana, Jonathan Gonzalez, Camacho, Arvin Jhon Paciones, Angelino Cordova, Jukiya Iimura, Kosuke Tomioka and Esneth Domingo.
