BoxingScene.com recently spoke to WBO welterweight champion Timothy "Desert Storm" Bradley about his upcoming fight against Manny Pacquiao. The fight will be a rematch of their June 2012 battle that ended with Bradley winning a controversial split decision. With the scrutiny that fight received, I asked Bradley if he felt he feels comfortable that he can win a decision in a rematch.
"I just have to win convincingly and leave no doubt. I can't worry about the judges," Bradley explained.
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said that he was going to ask the Nevada State Athletic Commission to look for judges beyond those that are domiciled in the state of Nevada. Bradley said that he likes the idea of having a larger pool of judges to select from.
"The bigger the pool the better," said Bradley. "I have always felt there should be more judges."
The undefeated California based Fighter also said that he believes there should be five judges per fight and that the judges' vantage point should be adjusted.
"I think that there should be five judges and I also think the judges should be elevated so that they don't have to look through the ropes. Sometimes the fighter's back is to the judge and they can't accurately gauge the work each fighter is doing. Is he making him miss? That is why I think five judges and having elevated seats would really help," Bradley told BoxingScene.com.
