WBA 'regular' welterweight champion Keith Thurman believes Manny Pacquiao - even with a good shoulder - would have lost on May 2nd to WBC/WBA super champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The two boxers traded shots at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in what was the richest fight in boxing history.
After the fight was over, Pacquiao claimed to have severely injured his right shoulder and couldn't properly fight. He had surgery on the injury and now claims the area is completely healed thanks to salt water and prayer.
Pacquiao now wants a rematch, claiming that he'd win by knockout with a fully healed shoulder. Even if he enters the ring at 100%, Thurman sees Mayweather's style as being too much for him.
"It is what it is. People talked to me about that as soon as the fight happened and I told them that shoulder injury or no shoulder injury, Manny Pacquiao was never going to beat Floyd Mayweather. At the end of the day it’s almost apples and oranges, Manny Pacquiao is not used to fighting fighters that have the fight style that Mayweather has, who uses their athleticism around the ring," Thurman told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.
"Pacquiao looked the best when he was fighting people who were flat footed, people that maybe moved a little bit but moved slower. I just don’t think that Manny Pacquiao really has the goods to beat an athlete like Floyd Mayweather."
