Last year’s postponed bout between WBC junior middleweight titleholder Sebastian Fundora and Keith Thurman officially has a new date.

Fundora vs. Thurman will take place on Saturday, March 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to a press release. The show will be a pay-per-view available via Amazon’s Prime Video as well as traditional cable and satellite outlets.

The fight was originally scheduled for October 25, 2025, but was called off about two weeks beforehand because Fundora suffered a hand injury during training camp.

Fundora, 23-1-1 (15 KOs), is a 28-year-old from Coachella, California. He won the WBO and vacant WBC titles at 154lbs in March 2024 with a bloody split decision over Tim Tszyu.

Fundora’s only fought twice since then. While pursuing a potential bout with former unified welterweight titleholder Errol Spence, Fundora didn’t make his first title defense until nearly a year later. And instead of facing Spence, Fundora fought Chordale Booker in March 2025 and took him out in four rounds.

Fundora soon was stripped of his WBO belt for declining to face mandatory challenger Xander Zayas. Instead, Fundora and Tszyu had a rematch this past July, with “The Towering Inferno” dominating en route to a seventh-round stoppage.

Thurman, 31-1 (23 KOs), is a 37-year-old from Florida. He is a former unified welterweight titleholder whose reign as the WBA’s primary beltholder began in 2016. He notched victories over Shawn Porter, Danny Garcia in a unification bout to add the WBC title, and Josesito Lopez. Thurman was stripped of the WBC belt between the Garcia and Lopez fights, as he was off for nearly two years while recovering from an injury. Thurman then lost the WBA belt via split decision to Manny Pacquiao in 2019.

Thurman has been incredibly inactive since then. He was out for two and a half years before returning in February 2022 and outpointing Mario Barrios. And then it was another 37 months before Thurman, having moved up to junior middleweight, traveled to Australia and demolished Brock Jarvis in March 2025.

Fundora actually has Thurman to thank for his current title reign. Thurman was the original opponent for Tszyu in March 2024 but had to pull out with an injury. Fundora was scheduled to compete on the undercard and stepped in.
