Thomas LaManna and Juan Rodriguez Jnr have made weight ahead of their showdown of New Jersey fan favorites, on Saturday evening in Atlantic City.
The 34-year-old LaManna, 39-6-1 (18 KOs), whose Rising Star Promotions company will also promote the event, checked in at 169.5lbs for the ten-round fight at Bally’s, while Rodriguez, 14-9 (6 KOs), hit the scales at 166.5lbs. LaManna of Millville, New Jersey, has said the fight will be the final of his 14-year career, ending it in the same place where it began. The weight threshold for the fight was initially slated for 160lbs, moved up to 168, and finally settled on 170.
The 39-year-old Rodriguez hails from Union City, New Jersey and ended a four-year layoff in October with a second-round stoppage win. The longtime welterweight had previously only fought as high as 151.5lbs before October. LaManna had also fought as a welterweight, but fought as a super middleweight in his last two fights, including a sixth round stoppage loss to Jermall Charlo in May.
As for the co-main event, Kahshad Elliot, 6-0 (5 KOs), weighed 160.5lbs for his six-round fight with Omar Rosales, 9-5-1 (5 KOs), who weighed 164.5lbs.
