The co-promoter for WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux responded to the recent comments of Juan Manuel "Juanma Lopez" - which the boxer made during a recent episode of BoxingScene.com's official audio show - "The Boxing Lab." Juanma stated that he wants to face Nonito Donaire, and made a prediction that Donaire will decision Rigondeaux on April 13th in New York City.
"It is a tough fight for both guys. Rigondeaux is a great fighter with good skills, very technical," Lopez said in the interview. "I feel this is Nonito's time and that he will win a dominating decision. I would be willing to fight him at 128 pounds (afterwards). If Rigondeaux wins I would like to fight him but it would be more difficult to make."
Boris Arencibia, CEO of Caribe Promotions, wanted to respond.
"I think we have to respect Juanma"s opinion, but Rigondeaux will win easier than most people think because he will put Nonito to work and fight him. Nonito will feel the power of his punches. Rigondeaux is a stylist who breaks his opponents down. And when Nonito starts to get frustrated, that's the moment where Rigondeaux wil push his attack," he told Mr.Boxing/BoxingScene.com.
Caribbean Promotions promotes Rigondeaux's career along with Top Rank.
