Amir Khan will seek a rematch with Lamont Peterson in March after his shock points defeat in Washington DC. The 25-year-old Briton said he felt like he was "fighting two people" after losing his WBA and IBF light-welterweight titles. Two points deducted from Khan by referee Joseph Cooper for pushing proved crucial. The judges scored the fight at 113-112, 113-112, 111-114 in favor of the local fighter, who has already agreed to give Khan a chance to win back the belts.
"We want a rematch, maybe in [Las] Vegas on 31 March," Shah Khan told BBC's Sportsweek.
Khan's team also have announced they will formally question the performance of Cooper as well as the judges' scoring.
In a statement they said: "Following the decision in the fight, Team Khan and Golden Boy Promotions intends to make inquiries with the District of Columbia Boxing and Wrestling Commission, the IBF and the WBA regarding the performance of referee Joseph Cooper and will also be seeking clarification regarding certain ambiguities with respect to the scores of the fight. We look forward to an immediate rematch with Lamont as confirmed by Lamont and his manager/trainer Barry Hunter."
