On Thursday BoxingScene.com ran a story in which cruiserweight Ryan Coyne and his manager Michael Garrett responded to recent report that stated that a fight between Coyne and Lateef Kayode was in the works for September 9th on Showtime.
Team Coyne said that they are interested in the fight but not on short notice and not for short money either. They believe that if properly marketed, that the fight could do significant business.
Kayode's manager Steven Feder sent the following email to BoxingScene to respond to Team Coyne.
"For the record, you can go back and track the trash talking that goes on between fighters, many having taken place on your website. When the call is actually answered magically the trash goes silent. Ryan Coyne went on record calling Kayode a Bigger Fraud Than Madoff back in February. So, after Lateef dropped Matt Godfrey three times over ten rounds we decided to invite Mr. Coyne to fight us September 9th on ShoBox for all the marbles. Needless to say he turned us down. Coyne turned in a soft performance against an opponent with a padded record in David McNemar."
"According to Mr. Coyne we did the same against Nick Iannuzzi. So to prove the naysayers wrong we followed the Iannuzzi fight with a seasoned veteran in the ranked Matt Godfrey. "
"I have no problem with Coyne taking a step back. That's between him and his manager but the next time you call someone out, be prepared to back it up. Who's the Fraud? 17 and 0 against 17 and 0. Would've been sweet to eat that donut off his record."
