Earlier this week an article ran on BoxingScene.com in which Amir Khan's father and manager Shah said that he was 90% certain his December showdown against IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander will take place in the Middle East with Dubai the leading candidate to host the event.
"We discussed Dubai and put it on the table as my preferred option to Devon. He wasn't sure at first and suggested we fight in Vegas. But negotiations are going on right now. My dad and Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy are talking to the right people in Dubai," said Amir Khan to The Sun.
Alexander's trainer and manager Kevin Cunningham denied that a deal was eminent to bring the fight to the Middle East and made it clear that Khan won't dictate the terms of the fight.
"Khan don't run sh*t, We don't have a deal to fight Khan and we don't have any plans on going to Dubai," Cunningham told BoxingScene.com.
Schaefer had previously mentioned December 7th as the likely date for the fight to take place should a deal come to fruition.
