According to reports in Germany, WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm (35-2-1, 15KOs) will defend his title against respected challenger Matthew Macklin (28-2, 19KOs) in the summer. Sturm informed multiple papers that he plans to face Macklin, who recently withdrew from a planned April eliminator with Khoren Gevor. However, Gevor has also landed a title opportunity as he moves up to super middleweight to challenge WBO champion Robert Stieglitz this coming Saturday. Sturm-Macklin will reportedly take place at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany.
