Everything is now pointing in the direction of a rematch between WBA 154-pound champion Miguel Cotto and his Mexican rival Antonio Margarito. In 2008, Margarito (30-7, 27KOs) stopped Cotto (36-2, 29KOs) in the eleventh round. The two Top Rank promoted fighters are possibly going to face each other for a second time on July 16, in either New Jersey or Las Vegas.

Cotto is now being trained by Emanuel Steward, who also works with heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and middleweight contender Andy Lee. Steward worked with Cotto in his two recent wins over Yuri Foreman and Ricardo Mayorga. Steward was on the sidelines for the first meeting. He saw the mistakes made by Cotto and plans to fix them as they go the rematch.

"I was working in the broadcast booth [for HBO] for the first fight. I think Margarito made Miguel fight too fast and forced him to move around a lot very early," said Steward. "Miguel was never able to connect with enough power on his punches because he was always moving, but Margarito will always be a difficult opponent because of the style and Miguel will have to hit him with some authority."
