The war of words continue. Middleweight king Sergio Martinez (48-2-2, 27KOs) has once again lashed out at Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (45-0-1, 31KOs), the WBC's champion at 160-pounds. Martinez, who faces Matthew Macklin on March 17th, is the mandatory challenger to Chavez's title. The Mexican champion has been ordered to fight Martinez several times in the past, but the bout never happened.
"One thing is clear, Chavez does not want to fight me. His promoter [Bob Arum] doesn't want the fight and neither does his trainer [Freddie Roach]. Of course, there are no comfortable fights, but I will clearly win. Maybe if I have a cane and I'm 50-years-old, they will regard me as a good opponent......when I can't throw a punch and I can't move. He's a mediocre fighter who was helped by [a lot of people] and pushed forward, almost bound to be champion," Martinez said.
Chavez replied back - "I don't understand one thing, if Martinez believes that I'm so mediocre and I'm not a good champion, then why does he want to fight me?"
