WBC middleweight champion Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez (50-2, 28KOs) has promised a knockout victory on April 27th when he faces undefeated Martin Murray (25-0-1, 11KOs), the WBA's interim-champion, at Club Atletico Velez Sarsfield in Argentina. Martinez returns to Argentina, as a star and a champion, after having his last fight in the country in 2002.
"I left [Argentina] with two suitcases and the way I'm coming back is amazing. It's a kid's dream. The is the sweetest moment of my life. I'm coming back to give everything on the show," Martinez said.
In an earlier interview, Martinez made a prediction of a knockout victory inside of eight rounds, but now he promises to leave the ring that night with knockout victory by any means possible. He doesn't underestimate Murray's abilities as a fighter. The only blemish on Murray's record was a controversial draw to former champion Felix Sturm.
"Murray is a great fighter, a world champion, and you have to respect him. But on April 27th I promise to defend my world title and win by way of a clear knockout," Martinez said.
