Sean McComb will fight for his first professional title when he returns to the ring in the autumn.
The 27-year-old southpaw was last in action earlier this month when he passed his sternest test to date.
McComb (8-0, 4 KOs) outpointed Renald Garrido, the Frenchman, at Falls Park, as part of the Feile on Phobail attraction topped by Michael Conlan’s WBA Inter-Continental and WBO Inter-Continental featherweight title victory over Diego Alberto Ruiz.
And it has now been confirmed that he will fight Kieran Gething (9-2-1, 2 KOs) for the vacant Celtic super-lightweight title, exclusively live on iFL TV and ESPN+.
The fight will form part of the supporting cast to the tasty flyweight showdown between European and Commonwealth champion Jay Harris of Wales and Ireland’s three-time Olympian and former WBC world title challenger Paddy Barnes on October 11 at the Ulster Hall in Belfast.
The fight has yet to be officially announced but the British Boxing Board of Control confirmed in a circular on Thursday that they have approved a request with regard the match up and the title.
Gary Cully will also feature on the card, alongside Dublin debutant Pierce O’Leary, Marco McCullough, who is back following his impressive third-round stoppage win against Declan Geraghty for the IBF European super-featherweight title back in May, and Lewis Crocker.
The bill is further bolstered by the additions of Sean Duffy and Callum Bradley.
The duo were last in action on the same card as McComb at Falls Park earlier this month, with Duffy (2-0, 1 KO) outpointed Naheem Chaudhry in his last fight, while Bradley (3-0) outpointed the Spanish-based Nicaraguan Jose Hernandez.
