Some very bold words from 19-year-old welterweight prospect "El Canelo" Saul Alvarez (29-0, 22KOs) of Mexico. Alvarez believes that in four or five fights, he will be ready to fight  and beat Manny Pacquiao.  During a recent interview, WBC president Jose Sulaiman told Mexican reporters that he believes Alvarez will be ready to fight Pacquiao in a year. There is no question that Alvarez is a talented prospect but he won't be nowhere near ready in four or five fights for boxer on the level of Pacquiao.

"It's a statement from Mr. Sulaiman, a very important person in boxing and his words flatter me. In every fight I show improvement, with a more experience - in a year I'll be ready for Manny Pacquiao," Alvarez told The Record."

The Mexican public has a lot of faith in Alvarez. As some remember, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer had some very high praise for Alvarez's skill and ability to draw huge crowds in Mexico. He even told BoxingScene.com that Alvarez was a darkhorse to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2010. For now, Alvarez is scheduled to face Lanardo Tyler on Dec. 5 in Tepic, Mexico.
