As Floyd Mayweather, Jr. gets ready to face the consequences of his felonious actions, boxing fans are left to ponder and clamor for a serviceable stand-in to face boxing's top gun Manny Pacquiao.
If one is to ask Rex "Wakee" Salud, a known trusted Pacquiao confidante in the Philippines, the answer lies in the Coachella Valley in the form of undefeated world jr. welterweight champ Timothy Bradley (28-0-0, 12 KOs).
Salud recently spoke to DZSR Sports Radio 918's Snow Badua and shared his inside info and opinion regarding negotiations for Pacquiao's next fight. Salud revealed that Miguel Cotto, Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez are the top three names being considered at the moment.
Asked who he feels would be the best option for Pacquiao right now, Salud picked Bradley based on the fact that it would be the easiest among the three to make.
"Sa tingen ko Bradley[...] Malabo yung Cotto kasi hinde magkasundo sa timbang. Yung Marquez sa tingen ko.. nag-demand na siya kung ano gusto niya, yan ang problema. Ayaw niya ng Las Vegas... ang dami niyang demand," Salud said in tagalog.
Translation : "I think Bradley [...] Cotto is doubtful, because they can't agree with the weight. Marquez, in my opinion, he already laid down his demands -- that's the problem. He doesn't want it to be in Las Vegas [...] he has so many demands."
Salud said that the Bradley fight will be at 147, and can get ironed out by the end of the week when Bob Arum flies into Manila to meet with his "prized" fighter. Salud also ruled out Amir "Khan-queror" Lamont Peterson saying that he is not big enough of a name yet to warrant a Pacquiao showdown. Besides, Bradley dominated Peterson anyway when they fought back in 2009.
