After almost a year out of the ring, lightweight prospect Ryan 'Blue Chip' Martin, scored a fifth-round stoppage of Rosel Martinez on April 23rd at the Forum in Inglewood, California to improve to 14-0 (9 KO's). Now Martin is looking to make up for lost time.
"I’m right back in the gym, focusing on my next bout. I don’t know exactly when that is but I’m anxious to get back in there. My fight film just came in the mail from the HBO international telecast and I’m looking forward to reviewing the footage with my team," said the 23 year old, who originally hails from Chattanooga, Tennessee.
"There's been ongoing discussions between my manager and Tom Loeffler amongst other companies and just recently, Floyd Mayweather has approached us. I’m not making any decisions at this time but my team feels K2 has a good plan for my development and future."
As he looks for his next fight, it looks like he'll be in camp with a world champion who is preparing for a big summer showdown.
"Last night Vadim Kornilov spoke with my manager and mentioned an opportunity to help Victor Pistol in LA at the Wild Card. I’m excited to learn more of the details as this progresses,"said Martin.
Postol, who holds the WBC junior welterweight crown, will face WBO champion Terence Crawford in a unification showdown on July 23rd, on HBO Pay-Per-View, from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
