American trainer Freddie Roach has said that "speed and power will win it for Manny (Pacquiao) and Erik Morales has no shot" when they clash in a blockbuster pay-per-view fight card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on March 19. Roach made the statement in a TV interview with former Viva Sports TV host Jannelle So.

Roach said that Pacquiao "is getting there. We have a few weeks left and we are not in full form right now. Next week we'll be pushing him harder and harder. I just don't want him to start too early and over train for the fight."

Roach who started working on developing Pacquiao's right during preparations for the Fahsan 3K Battery fight last December 11 said "he has a good right hand and he just needs a little more confidence in it. We are just pushing hard, training hard, concentrating on both hands. We have a little bit of strategy on how to deal with this guy (Morales.) Head movement is a big part of it, not just sitting in front of this guy and exchanging punches with him."

Roach indicated he was pleased with how things are going for Pacquiao adding "everything is right on schedule." The 2003 "Trainer of the Year" said that Pacquiao "is a hard guy to work with because he punches so hard and he's got speed."

International promoter Murad Muhammad said reports reaching him from watchers in the gym indicated that Pacquiao has been battering his sparring partners including Mexican Javier Garcia, 16 year old Armenian Hovannes Mergaryan and another Mexican, Raymundo "Sugar" Beltran. He also reported that Pacquiao was "training very hard." When Roach was told the Mexicans at the Wild Card Gym may be spying on Pacquiao, he replied "Morales just better be at his best because on the night, he'd gonna have to be."
