Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach is predicting a career-defining victory for WBC junior welterweight world champion Viktor Postol (28-0, 12KOs), who returns on July 23rd in a high stakes unification against WBO champion Terence Crawford (28-0, 20KOs).
The fight headlines an HBO Pay-Per-View event from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Postol captured the vacant WBC title last October with an unexpected knockout of heavily favored Lucas Matthysse in ten rounds at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
Crawford was back in the ring in January, when he knocked out overmatched Hank Lundy in five rounds at the Theater in New York's Madison Square Garden.
Roach considers Postol to be one of the best fighters that he's currently training at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California.
"I really like him. He's not popular in America at the moment, although his fight with Terence will be showcased on American television. Victor is a great fighter, a good athlete. And I truly feel he will win this fight. Even though it's going to be a very tough fight, I believe we're going to finish it on top. Personally, I am very excited," Roach said.
"This fight was the best opportunity out there. Terence is very fast, and that's exactly what we need to overcome - his speed. We're going to focus on that in the gym. In general, Crawford is a very good boxer, but so is Postol and I think my guy is walking out the winner that night."
