Guillermo Rigondeaux is less than two weeks away from his unification clash against Nonito Donaire. The fight takes place in New York on April 13th and will be televised by HBO.
On this week's edition of BoxingScene Radio, the WBA super bantamweight champion told us that this by far the most important fight of his career.
"We are training hard. We can't wait for fight night. This is the biggest fight of my career and we will show that on April 13th," Rigondeaux stated.
The WBA super bantamweight champion insists that he isn't worried about Donaire's size advantage, pointing out that he has faced bigger fighters in the past and always found a way to leave the ring with his hand raised.
"His size won't be a problem. I have fought guys a lot taller than him like Robert Marroquin. He was a lot taller than Donaire. His size won't be a problem at all," Rigondeaux confidently stated.
Rigondeaux has reunited with the trainer who led him to two Olympic gold medals and to what many call the greatest career in amateur boxing history.
The Cuban also said that they plan on unveiling new facets of his game that haven't been seen yet and that he will prove that he is the best fighter in the division.
"With Pedro Diaz its a guy I've worked with back in Cuba. He knows how I fight. You are going to see different things from me when I fight.
"This fight is very important for me. When I win that will show that I am the best 122 pound fighter in the world," Rigondeaux told us on Boxingscene Radio.
