Referee, Judges Set for De La Hoya-Mayweather

The officials have been selected for the Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. mega-bout, set to take place on May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

According to the Las Vegas Journal Review , the Nevada State Athletic Commission has appointed referee Kenny Bayless for the third man position.

Bayless' most recent assignments include Demetrius Hopkins vs. Steve Forbes, Shane Mosley vs. Luis Collazo, Shane Mosley vs. Fernando Vargas II and Diego Corrales vs. Joel Casamayor. De La Hoya-Mayweather is Bayless' biggest assignment by far, as almost all regard it as the biggest fight in the sport of boxing since Lennox Lewis met Mike Tyson in 2002.

The three judges appointed to score the contest are Jerry Roth, Chuck Giampa and Tommy Kaczmarek, all veteran Las Vegas judges.
