Julian 'J-Rock' Williams and Luciano Cuello are set to move forward with their super welterweight bout, which headlines the latest installment of 'PBC Toe-to-Toe Tuesdays' on Fox Sports 1.
Williams checked in at 153.5 lbs, while Cuello came in at the super welterweight limit of 154 lbs. The scheduled 10-round bout takes place at Sands Resort Casino in Bethlehem, Penn., just over an hour outside of Williams' hometown in Philadelphia.
Also on the show, Moises 'Chucky' Flores puts his interim super bantamweight title on the line versus Luis Cosulito.
Both fighters made weight for their 12-round co-main event. Flores (23-0, 16KOs) checked in at 121.7 lbs. for the first defense of his secondary title. Cosulito (21-1, 19KOs) weighed 121.9 lbs. for his first title fight and also his stateside debut, with his career having previously played exclusively in his native Argentina.
Flores had spent his first five years as a pro in Mexico, but fights for the fourth straight time in the United States. He is coming off of a 12-round split decision win over Oscar Escandon in April.
The evening marks the third bout of the year for Williams (20-0-1, 12KOs), and second on the PBC circuit. The well-schooled contender pitched a 10-round shutout over Joey Hernandez in the inaugural installment of PBC on CBS in April.
Two months later, he saw action on SHO Extreme, knocking out Arman Ovsepyan on the undercard of Deontay Wilder's knockout win over Eric Molina in front of a sold-out crowd at Bartow Arena on UAB campus in Birmingham, Alabama.
For as long as he's risen to contender status, Williams has called out the best in the super welterweight division. Most recently, the unbeaten Philly product has found himself in a back-and-forth exchange with former super welterweight champion Austin 'No Doubt' Trout.
Depending on how the main event goes, the aftermath could prove to be just as if not more entertaining. Trout will be live at ringside for Tuesday's show, serving as an expert analyst for the next two PBC on Fox Sports 1 shows in place of series regular Paulie Malignaggi, who is en route to Italy for a long overdue headline in the country of his heritage.
The telecast is set to air live Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. ET. Time-permitting, a third bout could potentially make the telecast. Unbeaten middleweight Caleb "Sweethands" Plant (9-0, 8KOs)—who hails from just outside of Nashville, TN—faces Jamar Freeman (13-4-2, 7KOs) in a swing bout that is budgeted for either six or eight rounds, the length dictated by its ultimate placement on the card.
