Guaynabo, PR - The Mexican challenger for the WBA interim super flyweight world title, Hernan "Tyson" Marquez, worked out for the media to prepare for Saturday's fight against champion from the Philippines, Nonito "Flash" Donaire.
The boxing event called "The Challenge" takes place at the Coliseo José Miguel Agrelot and is the co-feature to the world championship fight between WBO Featherweight champion andPuerto Rican Rican Juan Manuel Lopez and Bernabe Concepcion, another Philippine challenger. 15,000 fans are expected to attend the bouts presented by Top Rank and PR Bestboxing and will be televised internationally by Showtime and TV Azteca in Mexico by the House of Boxing.
Marquez (27-1, 20 KOs) exercised for the media at the Wilfredo Gomez Gym.
"We are now almost ready. We're at the weight we're just watching it right now. I'm desperate to get into the ring and fight against Donaire, to get in there and take the belt and give the public a great fight," said Marquez, who is trained by Rudy Perez.
Marquez was found in the gym with the double world champion Ivan Calderon, who gave him a few tips for his fight with Donaire to give him an advantage as both the "Iron Boy" and "Tyson" are left-handed fighters.
"It was a pleasure to know personally a big name like Calderon, who showed me several important things that I can applied during the fight with Nonito, he (Calderon) is a lefty like myself and I can't thank him enough for the advice," said Mexican challenger, 21 years of age.
Hernan Marquez also ran into his music icon, Daddy Yankee, in the gym.
