If you're a casual boxing fan, you may not know the name Peter Kahn. However, if you're an insider or someone paying particularly close attention to some of the biggest deals and fights that have taken place in the sport over the past 20-plus years, you've most certainly heard of him. Kahn is a respected veteran of the fight game.
He serves as a manager, advisor, and power broker in the sport. From a managerial standpoint, he is known as a hands-on operator who has advised an impressive list of fighters, including dozens of world champions like Xander Zayas, Randall Bailey, Franchon Crews-Dezurn, George Kambosos Jr., Michael Moorer, Daniel Santos, Robert Garcia, and others.
As an entrepreneur, Kahn's career spans more than three decades. His management philosophy would be categorized as fighter-friendly. Kahn prioritizes client interests with an approach so dedicated that he often speaks with his fighters on a daily basis.
Kahn's dedication to his stable has translated into success and the highest form of acknowledgment. In 2022, Kahn earned the prestigious Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) Cus D'Amato Manager of the Year award. This breakthrough came following nominations in 2019, 2020, and 2021. This recognition is underscored by a unique achievement in the sport's history.
During this fantastic stage—which has served as a launch pad for Kahn's ascension to the next level in the industry—he became the only manager to have two undisputed world champions simultaneously, having guided both Kambosos Jr. (Unified Lightweight) and Crews-Dezurn (Undisputed Super Middleweight) to the top of their divisions.
Kahn's foundation in the business was built at the highest level. He entered professional boxing in 1994, joining Don King Productions in a role within boxing operations during a memorable era of the sport. As fighters like Mike Tyson, Julio Cesar Chavez, Felix Trinidad, and others were at or approaching the height of their popularity, Kahn was on the ground floor playing a role in shaping the presentation for their epic fights.
He was immediately thrust into the action, working on Mike Tyson's 1995 comeback fight against Peter McNeeley. Kahn also served as the camp coordinator for Tyson's infamous 1997 rematch with Evander Holyfield. In the mid-1990s, he held an instrumental gatekeeper position at DKP. As an integral link in the chain of command leading up to King, Kahn stood firmly as the man one needed to speak to if they wanted to reach the promoter's second in command, Dana Jamison, the Vice President of Boxing Operations.
Today, running Fight Game Advisors, Kahn is recognized for his ability to seamlessly work with all major promoters. While some managers work almost exclusively with one of the major promoters, Kahn's roster has been spread across the landscape of fight promotions. Zayas was the youngest fighter to ever sign with Bob Arum's Top Rank boxing.
“Peter [Kahn] is a manager who stands up for his fighters and works tirelessly to put them in the best possible position,” Arum told me via text. “He’s been in the business for decades, and that experience has served him well as he’s helped guide several young prospects into champions.”
“Peter always has the best interests of his fighters at heart, and that shows when he’s negotiating deals to get his guys into the very best positions to maximize their talents, and that’s why he has and continues to represent some of the brightest talents in the sport,” said Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing.
Zayas was 16 when he signed with Top Rank after a standout amateur career. Kahn’s fighters work with Premier Boxing Champions, Matchroom, Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, ProBox and more. His current roster reflects his expertise in developing and positioning elite talent. He still manages Zayas’ career. The 23-year-old is now the reigning WBO super welterweight champion and the youngest titleholder in boxing.
Kahn recently negotiated a major publicity and marketing deal for Zayas and rising 19-year-old prospect Juanmita Lopez (the son of legend Juan Manuel Lopez) with Bad Bunny's Rimas Sports agency.
The goal is to elevate the fighters' brand globally. In addition to Zayas, Lopez, and Crews-Dezurn, Kahn also currently manages Cuban lightweight Andy Cruz, who is already the mandatory challenger for Rey Muratalla's IBF title, Jasmine Artiga, the reigning women’s WBA super flyweight champion and Yankiel Rivera, the WBA’s No. 1 contender at flyweight, both whom Kahn recently signed to Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions.
"Peter's track record speaks for itself,” said long-time Top Rank matchmaker Brad Goodman. “He gets top-notch guys to the next level. Look at what he's done with Xander Zayas and what he did for Kambosos. The proof is there."
Kahn’s consistency has kept the honors flowing. He is set to be named the 2025 WBO Manager of the Year. From the WBO to the WBC, the heads of other governing bodies speak to his potency and professionalism in the space.
“I have had the pleasure of knowing Peter for many years,” said WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman via text. “We both were kids and had huge dreams in life including and especially in boxing. Peter has always been positive and supportive. Above all he has always had the best interests of the fighters as his top priority. Peter is honorable and trustworthy; A man who holds his word and legacy as sacred. He is a family man who is always available. Boxing needs more people like Peter Kahn.”
In addition to management, Kahn has leveraged his business acumen across media, serving as a contributor to Forbes on the business of the fight game and acting as an Associate Producer for the Netflix Original series Fightworld.
He is also a Florida Boxing Hall of Fame inductee, cementing his status as a permanent figure in the boxing landscape.
