During Amir Khan's open media workout on Tuesday in New York City, BoxingScene.com discussed a delicate topic with trainer Freddie Roach - the possibility of Khan fighting Manny Pacquiao in 2011. Last week in the British press, Khan made a few interesting quotes regarding his future goals. According to the quotes, Khan said he would be ready for a fight with Manny Pacquiao and/or Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the next twelve months. A few other British papers quoted Khan directly discussing a possible fight with Pacquiao.

Roach, the mutual trainer of Pacquiao and Khan, told BoxingScene the fight will not happen. He said the British press misquoted Khan and/or took his comments out of context. While a Pacquiao fight is out of the question, Roach would love to match Khan with Mayweather at some point in the future.

"He never said that [about Pacquiao]. The fight won't happen. Amir and Manny are very good friends. Our goal is to clean out the junior welterweight division and if we come out on top of that, and Mayweather is still around - then we'd love to fight Mayweather," Roach told BoxingScene.com.
