Argentina's Omar Narvaez, the former flyweight and super flyweight world champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), has scheduled a fight against Venezuelan Breilor Teran on Friday June 10 in the city of Trelew.
"El Huracan" Narvaez, 40-years-old, will make the first defense of the Latino bantamweight title of the International Boxing Federation (IBF). The event was confirmed by OFR Promotions.
Narvaez (45-2-2 , 24 KO) won the vacant IBF bantamweight strap by scoring a technical knockout in eight rounds over Venezuelan Jesus Vargas at the New Stadium 'Aurinegro' of Puerto Madryn, Chubut on the 19th of February.
This bout will serve as a measuring stick for Narvaez, who has his eyes firmly fixated on landing a title shot against IBF kingpin Lee Haskins, who this weekend will defend the belt against Mexico's Ivan Morales.
Narvaez is hoping to get a world title shot by the end of this year or early 2017 at the latest.
Teran (30-years-old) hails from the city of Maracaibo; in his last fight on the 10 of April he won the flyweight belt by beating Venezuela Freddy Beleno - the only man to ever beat him by TKO. He previously lost a decision to former world champion Juan Carlos Reveco and has a record of 26 wins (15 KO) and 12 losses.
