Welsh star Nathan Cleverly is aiming to repeat history when he tackles Juergen Braehmer on May 21 at The O2 - and knock him out in the first round!
There have been some thrilling encounters over the years between boxers from Wales and Germany.
And there have also been some memorable wins for the men from the Principality.
Way back in 1929, Llanelli heavyweight Gipsy Daniels knocked out legend Max Schmeling in the first in Germany.
Then as the Swinging Sixties got underway, Newport's Dick Richardson knocked out Karl Mildenberger in the first in a European heavyweight title defence in Germany.
And more recently, Joe Calzaghe blasted out Mario Veit inside a round in a defence of his WBO World Super-Middleweight title.
"It looks like history is on my side!" joked Cleverly after taking some time from sparring with James DeGale in Essex.
The undefeated 24-year-old from Cefn Forest takes on Braehmer for the WBO World Light-Heavyweight title, live on Sky Box Office.
"I don't plan to win by knockout in certain rounds, but how amazing would that be if could do Braehmer in a round as a statement to the other champions.
"Am I going to knock him out in the first round?
"You can never say never and I'm punching harder than ever now that I've matured into a light-heavyweight, but I'm still only 24.
"My strength and power has increased since my early career and I've got a strength and conditioning coach on my team as well.
"I'm preparing for a very tough 12 rounds as Braehmer is a quality fighter and a proven world champion.
"This is easily the toughest fight of my career, and I'm expecting to have to go into the trenches in London.
"But sparring with DeGale has been going really well, and I will be in the best shape ever on May 21.
"It looks like Wales generally comes out on top against Germany, and that trend will continue next month."
