French light heavyweight Nadjib Mohammedi (32-3, 19 KOs) extended his latest series of victories to eight with an easy annihilation of the young Georgian veteran Shalva Jomardashvili (33-6-2, 25 KOs). The usually game Jomardashvili, 26, was far from his best shape and was no match for the hard-punching Frenchman. He was knocked out in the third, and that was the first time ever he was stopped convincingly.

The Georgian fighter has previously gone the distance in four of his five losses, including an even bout with the recent world title challenger Martin Murray, who struggled mightily to get a thin 58-56 victory in 2010. His only stoppage loss was against Matthew Macklin, when Shalva retired on his stool after round five despite a game effort in previous rounds.

WBA #9 Mohammedi, on the other hand, is 3-0, with 3 KOs, this year and 8-0, 7 KOs, since his crushing defeat to the Russian Dmitry Sukhotskiy in October 2011. Mohammedi is best known for a hard test he offered to then-WBO interim champion Nathan Cleverly in December of 2010.
