Former world super-middleweight champion Anthony Mundine is known for yo-yoing the weight divisions but is now ready to out-do himself by facing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. at middleweight and then immediately challenging cruiserweight king Krzysztof Wlodarczyk.
The 36 year-old Australian, who has been campaigning at 154lbs since January 2010, currently holds the interim WBA title at the weight but is ready to move up to take on Chavez with just over six weeks preparation before bulking up for Wlodarczyk later in the year.
"I am willing to break boundaries," Mundine told heraldsun.com.au. "What I've done in sport has never been done before.
"But what I do in the next five or six years, I want to achieve what could never be matched in boxing.
"I am here to let people know that I am the best all-round athlete of all time. People in Australia know, but I want the whole world to know."
According to reports in his native country, Mundine is mulling over the opportunity to travel to the US to face Chavez in February and after cracking the American market, wants to challenge the 200lb Polish world champon later in the year.
With Chavez having at least two mandatory challengers in Sergio Martinez and Marco Antonio Rubio though, it may be a long shot that Mundine would even be considered by the WBC and a shot at WBA ‘regular’ champion Austin Trout seems more realistic in 2012.
