"Sugar" Shane Mosley has given his opinion on the controversy with Antonio Margarito. He is being quoted as stating that Margarito served out his punishment and deserves to reclaim his boxing license. Margarito lost his ability to box in the United States in February 2009 when the boxing commission in California revoked his license for one year.
It was the fight with Mosley in January 2009 that led to Margarito losing his license. Before the fight took place, Molsey's trainer noticed that Margarito had illegal inserts in his hand wraps and alerted a member of the athletic commission. Mosley would like to see Margarito's trainer, Javier Capetillo, take the full force of the punishment because he was in charge of wrapping the hands.
Mosley blames the trainer, though he points out that Margarito may not be deserving of the shot against Manny Pacquiao on November 13.
"I think time has been served, he should get his licence back. The trainer is the one that wraps his hands," Mosley was quoted by the Golzka paper.
"I've never said that he didn't know [about the inserts], maybe he did, but I am sure he didn't ask for it. It was brought to him by his trainer. He is the monster. The bullsh*t I heard, his trainer said was it would protect his hands from getting hurt, and [he] can punch without being afraid of his hands hurting."
"He probably don't deserve a fight with the PacMan right now, but the trainer is the one that knows better.
