The last time Mikey Garcia (34-0, 28KOs) was in the ring was on the night of January 25th, 2014. Since that period he's been sidelined and in litigation versus his promoter Top Rank. And it doesn't look like he'll be fighting anytime soon until this legal situation is cleared up.

"Well, they're taking Todd (duBoef, president of Top Rank) deposition on Thursday, then they cancelled mine," said Arum, who's a bit bewildered by what's been taking place.

"I just don't know what they're up to. It's stupid the whole thing. I mean, here he wants to come back and he wants to fight and as far as I've heard he's asking for astronomical numbers that nobody is willing to pay."

At the beginning of the year, after soundly defeating Juan Carlos Burgos to defend his WBO 130-pound title, there was talk of quickly moving Garcia up to eventually get him in line for Manny Pacquiao. He was scheduled to face Yuriorkis Gamboa last May but instead ended up suing Top Rank and he sat out the remainder of 2014 as he attempted to get out of their promotional agreement.

There's a very good possibility that he could be out of action the remainder of this year.

"That could very well be, the case is in court. We're still in depositions. By the time they go to trial, it's probably not going to be till next year," opined Arum, who ruled out giving Garcia his release.
