Cris Esqueda / Golden Boy PromotionsOscar Collazo, the unbeaten strawweight champion and widely regarded top-10 pound-for-pound occupant, is currently slated to headline a June 20 Golden Boy Promotions card at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, California.
Puerto Rico’s WBO and WBA champion Collazo, 14-0 (11 KOs), is set to meet Joey Canoy, 25-5-2 (15 KOs), of the Philippines. Canoy, ranked No. 5 by the WBO and ninth by the WBA.
Collazo, who won his first belt in 2023, has made seven successful title defenses, including a March 14 sixth-round stoppage of Jesus Haro in Anaheim, California.
BoxingScene was told previously that Collazo’s fellow unified champion, WBC and WBA flyweight titlist Ricardo Sandoval, could also land on the card.
For now, Golden Boy has stacked the DAZN-streamed show with some of its best prospects, including Texas heavyweight Joshua Edwards, unbeaten 140lbs fighter Ruslan Abdullaev, 4-0 (2 KOs), and unbeaten junior-middleweights Cayden Griffiths, 8-0 (7 KOs), and Grant Flores, 13-0 (9 KOs).
Oscar De La Hoya’s company staged a Friday show in San Jose, California, with top-five IBF middleweight contender Amari Jones, 17-0 (15 KOs), posting a third-round knockout of former beltholder Vincenzo Gualtieri.
