Daily Southtown reports that heavyweight contender Mike Mollo (19-1, 12KOs) is calling out veteran Andrew Golota 40-6-1, 33KOs) for an all-Chicago showdown.
Mollo, coming off an easy knockout of Art Binkowski last Saturday at the Sears Centre, feels that he is ready for a fight with Golota on a network like HBO or Showtime. HBO execs were watching Mollo's recent untelevised win on the Juan Diaz-Julio Diaz undercard.
Mollo is currently ranked number 9 by the WBA.
"I'd fight Golota, absolutely," Mollo said. "I'd like to be showcased a little bit more, you know? That's all I ask, man - let me show people what I can do. HBO saw how I thrilled the fans the other night. I'm a crowd-pleaser, you know? I come to fight. Hopefully, there will be more interest in me. More people know who Mike Mollo is now."
"The way I've learned and grown in this sport in the last year, by the time that fight came, Golota wouldn't have a chance against me. He wouldn't have a chance against my speed, my youth and my conditioning - all of that and my power. I have twice as much power as he does. Everybody talks about the left hook, but I've worked hard to throw more right hands. The fire is hot now."
