Rising welterweight contender Mike Jones (22-0, 18KOs) is requesting to get his shot at WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (26-0, 20KOs). Following Friday's five round knockout of Irving Garcia at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, the 27-year-old Jones would once again call for the Berto clash to happen.

As previously reported, Berto's promoter Lou DiBella has discussed the possible fight with promoters Top Rank and Russell Peltz, who work with Jones. DiBella is searching for a fall opponent who HBO would approve. Jones is likely to get approved by the network. There had been some talk about a fighting being put together between Jones and Antwone Smith, who fought on Jones-Garcia undercard. That option went out the door when Smith was stopped in nine rounds by underdog Lanardo Tyner.

Jones, standing at nearly 6'1, is much taller than Berto, listed as 5'8. He studied Berto's fights and sees technical flaws that would allow him to win the fight, should it ever happen, by knockout.

"Great talent, very fast. Brings a lot of power. I'd try to use my height. Mix it up," said Jones. "But when he throws exchanges, he leaves himself open. I see myself catching him and knocking him out."
