WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto is pushing himself to the limit during training sessions in Puerto Rico, preparing for the toughest fight of his career against Antonio Margarito on July 26 in Las Vegas.

Cotto's uncle/trainer, Evangelista Cotto, has tapped José Varela (23-3, 16KOs), a 6'1 junior middleweight/middleweight who emulates the styles of Margarito with his size, style and power. During his career, Varela went the distance with Edison Miranda and was stopped in two-rounds by Marco Antonio Rubio. Evangelista also trains Varela.

"Varela was selected because of his size and power. His style seems to be very similiar to that of Margarito," Evangelista told El Nuevo Dia.

The physical appearance of Cotto is noticeable, he's more muscular than usual and his body is showing more definition than previously seen in the past.

"We are going through the same motions. Nothing special," Cotto said. "My physical trainer and my uncle understand what is needed for this fight and they put together the training regimen."
