WBC middleweight champion Miguel Angel Cotto will head to Los Angeles, California on September 25th and on Monday the 28th, he will begin an eight-week camp for his scheduled fight on November 21 against Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez. The HBO Pay-Per-View showdown will take place at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
For Cotto this will be the second defense of the title that he captured last June when he knocked out Sergio Martinez. He retained the title for the first time this past June with a knockout of Daniel Geale. Both of those fights took place at a catch-weight and the fight with Canelo will take place at 155-pounds.
Cotto will have his camp, under Freddie Roach, at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood.
"Freddie is going to outline the game plan. Canelo is a different fighter, but my biggest advantage is called Freddie Roach. He has led me to do things I have never done," Cotto told El Vocero. "We leave for Los Angeles on September 25 and on the 28th we will start the camp. We will have an eight-week camp."
